Eauwedo from Alotau!

Eauwedo everyone! That's hello or Thank You in Sariba language. For those of you who aren't familiar with all things Milne Bay, Sariba Island is where I come from and is a 2 hour dinghy ride from Alotau. Alotau is the provincial capital of Milne Bay which is in the South East of Papua New Guinea.

That said, Milne Bay is often referred to as Size 28 country, or land of the midgets, you guessed it, most people here are short, well shorter than me (I like to think). That's one thing I love about being home, finally I can actually look people in the eye!

Anyway, I live and work at Education Milne Bay, no not The Dept. of Education, Education Milne Bay Ltd, a small private company specialising in training and education. I'm a single mum and I've been based here for almost 2 years now.I'm here with my son- Kaure Muala, who is 2 and a half years old going onto 20!

Having lived in Port Moresby for about 10 years, I decided to make the move home after giving birth to my son. I wanted my son to grow up in a place where he could be free to run around, swim in clean waters, walk in the forest or on the street, safe and unharmed. I've found that place and it's here in Alotau. Don't get me wrong, we have our fair share of incidents, crime is on the rise and Alotau is changing but compared to Moresby, it's paradise!
